DMI ref. omg184     Image title: Dufay color film reseau

omg184__dufay_reseau.jpg

Copyright 2006 David Malin Images

The tri-color reseau of Dufaycolor, a 1930s to 1950s additive color film process. The dyed matrix shown here was laminated on the film base base, which was coated with a monochrome emulsion. When the film was exposed through the base and reversal-processed, the positive image transmitted light through the appropriate color filter embedded in the film and a realistic (though rather dark) color image was produced.
Magnification x 120 on the 6 x 9cm original photomicrograph.
